Diagnosed and repaired a leaking water softener system installed in 2017. Upon inspection, found water damage at base of unit and identified the drain connection to tank as the source of leakage. Replaced the damaged plastic drain assembly which had significant mineral buildup and sealed the connection properly to resolve the issue.
Diagnosed non-functioning furnace (15-20 years old) that was attempting to start but failing. Determined control board has failed as it briefly engaged the inducer motor before ceasing all signals. Due to unit age and condition, recommended replacement rather than repair of the defective control board.
Performed furnace tune-up including inspection of heat exchanger, burners, blower, safety switches, gas pressures, and ventilation system. Diagnosed noise issue with ECM blower motor requiring replacement. Identified seized HRV fan motor showing excessive heat, posing potential fire hazard - shut down HRV and recommended equipment replacement. System otherwise functioning properly.
Performed comprehensive tune-up on high efficiency Trane furnace including combustion analysis using Testo analyzer, which confirmed safe operation parameters. Inspected electrical connections and verified they remain solid. Replaced humidifier panel, cleaned flame sensor, and verified adequate filter condition. System is functioning properly and ready for continued operation.
Diagnosed 2013 gas furnace experiencing intermittent operation with short cycling approximately every 90 seconds. Visual inspection revealed corrosion around heat exchanger openings. Determined control board failure resulted in no power being supplied to gas valve. Recommended control board replacement or full furnace replacement due to age and condition of equipment.
Successfully replaced failing well pressure tank with new 32-gallon model to prevent potential pump motor burn out. Removed old tank and installed new unit while utilizing existing tee assembly. Completed installation of all necessary components including pressure gauge and control switch.
Completed installation of new hydronic baseboard heat on the lower level, including fin tube baseboard units in the living room and bedroom. Connected lines back to the lower level boiler zone, flushed the system, and filled with water and glycol antifreeze. Added a shut off and drain to the boiler for water fill, purged air from all zones, and set pressure to 19 psi, returning system to normal operation.
Replaced severely corroded pressure tank and failed tee assembly due to leaking drain valve and faulty pressure switch that were causing water pressure issues. Installed new components to restore proper system pressure and function.
Successfully completed day one of a multi-day hydronic baseboard installation project on the lower level of the home. Began installing various sizes of fin tube baseboard with covers (20', 16', and two 12' sections) in the large room and bedroom. Drained and partially refilled system as part of the ongoing installation process, with work to continue on day two.
Completed comprehensive duct cleaning service on HVAC system with excessive dirt accumulation. Thoroughly cleaned all ductwork to improve system efficiency and air quality. Visual inspection revealed improved airflow conditions after service completion.
Performed safety inspection on furnace including carbon monoxide testing and heat exchanger evaluation; all components functioning safely with no cracks detected. Provided detailed estimate for replacing fresh air intake, furnace exhaust, and relocating dryer vent that is currently obstructing sliding door. Customer requires immediate completion of proposed ventilation modifications to accommodate pending home sale and contractor schedule.
Responded to a no-heat service call for a heat pump and furnace system installed less than a year ago. Diagnosed a system changeover failure preventing proper heating operation. Identified ambient temperature lockout issue and restored temporary system operation while ordering necessary replacement part. Temperature readings confirmed proper heating function after repairs. Return visit scheduled for permanent repair once part arrives.
Responded to service call for loose faucet issue. Performed maintenance by tightening handle and cleaning the faucet assembly. Also inspected water heater system and associated plumbing components, noting corrosion on vertical pipe and mineral buildup requiring future attention.
Responded to a no-heat call for an aging oil furnace. Upon inspection, found system non-operational. Performed comprehensive diagnostic check including oil line, burner assembly, ignition system, relays, and burner tube. Bled the oil line to remove air and cycled the unit to restore proper ignition. Verified functionality of fan relay, temperature settings, blower, belt, zone board, and dampers. System successfully returned to normal heating operation with proper ignition and combustion restored.
Responded to no cooling complaint in residential system where main electrical service had been previously damaged and repaired by others. Diagnostic testing revealed failed capacitor and contactor in outdoor unit, with potential condenser motor issues. Due to multiple component failures and advanced age of equipment, complete system replacement was performed rather than component repairs.
Completed installation of new iHEATING boiler system with associated copper piping, valves, and controls in basement utility room to replace existing unit. Extended and replaced fin tube baseboard heating elements in large room and bedroom following water damage remediation. System properly vented and connected to existing infrastructure with all necessary safety components installed per specifications.
Reclaimed refrigerant from Lennox condenser unit, disconnected refrigerant lines and electrical connections ahead of customer's concrete slab installation. Secured electrical wiring and conduit at disconnect box, then temporarily relocated condenser behind garage. Will return to reconnect complete system after construction is completed.
Performed installation of customer-supplied Kohler hose replacement. Work involved disconnecting existing plumbing components, installing the new hoses, and verifying proper connections to ensure no leaks. All fittings were secured and system functionality was tested upon completion.
04/15/25 Rob J II The customer called in because they had a water stain on the basement ceiling. We suspected the main floor guest bathroom tub, but we couldn’t verify it while running water. As we started cutting into the water spot on the basement ceiling below, water began to pour out. After cutting further back into the ceiling, we discovered that the tub overflow caused the leak.
