AC Installation in Eau Claire, WI

Whether you are replacing your old air conditioner or are installing one in an entirely new space, Hurlburt Heating and Plumbing is here to help.

A new AC install doesn’t need to be stressful

We are committed to helping you every step of the way. We will come out to your home and give you a free estimate for your new air conditioner. We will do a walk-through of your home and calculate the size AC you need. From there, we can discuss your options and find something to fit your budget.

We carry a variety of equipment options to best fit your needs

Central Air Conditioners are the most common type of air conditioners in our area. These units work with your furnace to circulate cool air through your home using ductwork.

Heat Pumps look a lot like traditional air conditioners but they are capable of both heating and cooling with a single system. Heat pumps are more energy efficient than most types of furnaces since they don’t need to create heat, but rather move it from one area to another.

If you don’t have a furnace working to circulate air for your heat pump, you must have some type of air handler to move the air.

Mini Splits are a great choice for heating and cooling single rooms and small spaces. These units are technically heat pumps, but are mostly used for AC in our area. Most mini splits are ductless, making them easy to install in homes without ductwork or if you have an area that simply needs more temperature control.

Mini splits are popular AC choices for homes with boiler heat, home offices, guest suites and in garages or other workspaces. They can heat and cool larger areas using multiple indoor units that all connect to a single outdoor condenser.

How long will my old air conditioner last?

Air conditioners typically last around 15 years if they have been well maintained. We can’t say for sure how long your AC will last, but if it is getting up there in age, you should start planning for an eventual replacement.

You can wait until the old one fails completely or you can replace it preemptively. Either way, we’ll be here to help.

If you want to get the most out of your AC, we recommend having a tune up done once per year to catch any small problems before they become big ones. And don’t forget to change your furnace filter! This is the single best thing you can do to extend the life of both your furnace and AC.

How do I know when it’s time to replace my air conditioner?

Unless your AC fails completely, it can be difficult to know when to replace and when to repair.

If something big fails, like a compressor, it is usually better to replace the whole unit. Replacing a part like a compressor is expensive and time consuming and when the job is complete, you still have an old air conditioner with other internal parts that are likely to fail within a few years.

There will come a time when your air conditioner reaches an age where parts start to fail consistently. If they are cheap parts, it might not seem like a big deal until it keeps happening. If you are calling us out every year to replace something on your old AC, it is likely time to start planning for a new one.

How long does it take to install a new air conditioner?

For a central AC unit or a mini split, we are usually done within a day. However, there could be  other factors that extend the installation process. If ductwork needs to be repaired, replaced or added, it could be two or more days.

Most mini split installs can be completed in a day but if you are installing a unit with multiple heads, it may take a day and a half. All homes are unique and we can give you a better idea of how long your install will take when we do a walk through.

Our team of professionals in the Eau Claire area are available to come out to your home and discuss your options for AC replacement and installation and answer any questions you might have.
