Few communities in western Wisconsin combine as many different housing styles and homeowner needs as River Falls. The city continues to grow rapidly while maintaining its strong connection to UWRF, local agriculture, and the outdoor lifestyle that makes the Kinnickinnic River Valley such a desirable place to live. That means our technicians regularly work in everything from historic homes and student rentals to executive homes, townhomes, and rural properties throughout Pierce County.
Locals simply call it “The Kinni,” and while the Kinnickinnic River is one of River Falls’ most recognizable landmarks, it also contributes to humidity levels that can make homes uncomfortable during the summer. We regularly help homeowners throughout neighborhoods like South Fork, Whitetail Ridge, and areas near Glen Park solve issues involving humidity, airflow, and aging cooling systems that struggle to keep pace with Wisconsin’s hot and humid weather.
Heat pumps can be a great alternative to traditional air conditioners. Like an AC, they can be paired with a forced-air furnace or air handler. Heat pumps look a lot like traditional air conditioning units but they work a bit differently.
Like a traditional air conditioner, they use the refrigeration cycle to provide cool air in your home. However, these units can use the refrigeration cycle to provide heat as well. To simplify it, they basically run in reverse. The refrigeration cycle allows the heat pump or AC to absorb heat and move it from one area to another. On cooling mode, the unit absorbs the heat from inside your home and releases it outside. On heating mode, it finds heat in the ambient outdoor air and moves it inside to heat your home. While that might not seem like something that can work in our harsh, Wisconsin winters, heat pumps use technology that allow them to work in subzero temperatures.
On heating mode, heat pumps are more efficient than electric and gas-fired furnaces. This is because they don’t have to “create” heat but rather move it from one area to another. Many people who use heat pumps chose them for this reason. Higher energy efficiency means lower operating costs.
Important note for heat pump installations: if you plan to rely on your heat pump for home heating, you must choose a unit that is rated for low temperatures. There are many varieties of heat pumps. The ones that work great in Florida do not work well here. We can use heat pumps efficiently in Wisconsin but you have to have the right one!
Whether you’re dealing with uneven temperatures, rising energy bills, or an older AC system, our team can help improve comfort and efficiency throughout your home.
Why Landlords, Families, and Acreage Owners Need Different Heating SolutionsRiver Falls is one of the few markets where we might service a student rental near UWRF, a family home in Sterling Ponds, and a rural acreage outside town all in the same day. Each property has different heating demands, which is why there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to furnaces, Boilers, Heat Pumps, and Geothermal Systems. Long Wisconsin winters make reliability and efficiency important for every homeowner, regardless of where they live.
Whether you’re maintaining a rental property, upgrading a family home, or improving efficiency on a rural property, we can help you find the right solution.
As River Falls continues to grow, more homeowners are paying attention to indoor air quality. Seasonal allergies, dust, dry winter air, summer humidity, and pet dander all affect comfort inside the home. We frequently help families throughout Highview Meadows, South Fork, and other growing neighborhoods improve indoor comfort through better filtration and humidity control.
The right air quality strategy can improve comfort throughout every season while helping your Heating and A/C system operate more efficiently.
River Falls continues to attract homeowners who are investing in electric vehicles, home offices, smart home technology, backup generators, and upgraded Heating and Air Conditioning systems. As a result, we are seeing strong demand for electrical improvements throughout both newer subdivisions and rural properties where reliability and backup power have become increasingly important.
Whether you’re upgrading a panel, preparing for an EV charger, or installing a generator, our team can help ensure your home’s electrical system is ready for future demands.
From historic homes near downtown to newer developments along County Road FF, plumbing systems throughout River Falls face challenges ranging from frozen pipes and leaking water heaters to hard water and sump pump concerns. We help homeowners protect their homes from costly water damage while improving reliability, efficiency, and water quality.
Whether you’re dealing with a plumbing emergency or planning a preventative upgrade, our team is ready to help.
River Falls is one of the most diverse service markets we work in. Few communities combine university housing, growing subdivisions, rural acreages, Twin Cities commuters, and long-established neighborhoods all within the same market. That variety keeps our technicians working throughout the area every day.
Hurlburt is proud to support the River Falls community through our partnership with UW–River Falls Athletics, including sponsorship of the new softball field. We believe in investing in the communities we serve and building long-term relationships with homeowners throughout the Kinnickinnic River Valley.
Whether you’re attending River Falls Days, Bacon Bash, River Dazzle, or cheering on the UWRF Falcons, you’ve likely seen a Hurlburt truck somewhere around town.
Logan P checked out my garbage disposal, found the Allen wrench, made an adjustment and it worked. He was knowledgeable, polite, and not in a hurry. He’s a fine technician and I’d get him again.
Both team members were great and friendly. They explained everything they were doing and kept me up to date. Doug was very good.
