New AC installations for residential homes in Chippewa Falls

At Hurlburt, we know just how hard your HVAC system works to keep you comfortable. Wisconsin experiences some extreme temperature swings throughout the year. The humidity of our summer heat can make your home feel more like an oven unless you have a reliable air conditioning system

Whether you are replacing an existing system or looking for AC options for a new home or remodel, you can trust our experts to find a solution that works for you.

Central AC systems

Most homes in Chippewa Falls and its surrounding areas are equipped with central air conditioning. Central AC units utilize ductwork to circulate cool air throughout your home. In the majority of Wisconsin homes, they are paired with a forced-air furnace that moves the air around your home.

If you don’t have a forced-air furnace, you can still install a central AC system with ductwork but you will need an air handler to distribute air to your home. This is not a very popular option but it can be done.

There is some energy loss associated with ductwork but it is still one of the best ways to distribute cool air evenly throughout homes of all sizes.

Heat pumps for Wisconsin homes

Heat pumps can be a great choice if you are looking for both heating and cooling on a single system. On cooling mode, heat pumps function just like central air conditioners do but they can run in reverse to provide heating as well.

Heat pumps tend to be more energy efficient than many of our heating options in Wisconsin because they don’t need to spend energy creating heat. Instead, heat pumps use the refrigeration cycle to move heat from one place to another.

You might have heard that heat pumps aren’t a good choice for cold climates…and that’s only true if you get the wrong heat pump. Heat pumps can work effectively in our harsh Wisconsin winters but you need to install one that is rated for use in low temperatures.

Ductless mini splits

Ductless mini splits are a popular choice for many homes in the Chippewa area. These units are a type of heat pump but they do not require any ductwork to be installed in your home.

Mini splits are one of the most energy-efficient AC options currently on the market. These units use inverter-driven compressors that automatically adjust themselves to your cooling load.

Mini split systems distribute cool air to your home through indoor air handlers that can mount to your wall, floor or beneath your ceiling. The wall-mounted air handlers are the most popular choice for easy maintenance and better air circulation.

Because of their setup, mini splits are ideal for strict temperature control of small spaces. The individual air handlers allow for easy zone control. However, these units might not be the best choice for sole heating and cooling of large spaces unless you want to install multiple condensers.

Hurlburt Heating Plumbing and AC can help you choose the right AC system to fit all your needs

All homes are unique. The best AC choice for your neighbor might be totally impractical for your home’s needs. Our expert AC installers are here to help you find the option for you, no matter what type of air conditioner you are looking for.

We know how daunting it can be to choose a new AC system. Your AC system should last you anywhere from 15-20 years if you maintain it well. That’s quite the investment! We can give you a variety of options to consider so you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.

How the Hurlburt team knows what AC is best for you

When helping you decide on an AC system for your home, we come out to the property and do a walk-through where we look at the square footage, ceiling height, windows, attic and crawlspaces, basement construction, insulation and calculate what size and type of air conditioning system would work best with your home.

For example: if you have a home with boiler heat (no ductwork) and you are looking for an air conditioning system, we could likely create a duct system in your home but it would cost you a lot of money on both remodeling and HVAC equipment. It could be done if that’s what you really wanted but it would be far more affordable to install a ductless mini split system for you. Of course, the choice is ultimately up to you but we can offer our experience to help you make the best decision. We aren’t in the business of selling you the most expensive equipment. Our goals are to provide adequate heating and cooling to keep you comfortable in your home all year round.
