FAQs
If you’re considering us for an AC repair or replacement, you likely have some questions about our Anoka air conditioning services. Here we provide answers to several of the most common our customers ask.
What’s the Difference Between SEER and SEER2?
The U.S. HVAC industry uses the seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) as a measure of cooling efficiency over a theoretical summer. SEER2 is a new version of the rating system that more accurately accounts for static air pressure losses in ducted systems. Currently, you’ll find both the SEER and SEER2 ratings on an AC’s EnergyGuide label. In the future, the industry will use the new rating exclusively.
How Often Should I Service My AC?
We recommend scheduling annual AC tune-ups every spring before you need to run your air. Many AC warranties require it, and regular maintenance lowers cooling costs and prevents repairs. Even with routine maintenance, monitor for performance issues throughout the summer, and call us right away if you notice any.
Why Is There a Musty Odor When My AC Turns On?
The most common reason this occurs is microbial growth on the evaporator coil. That coil is a breeding ground for microbial growth due to condensation, and you’ll begin to notice it without regular cleaning. There can also be microbial growth in your HVAC filter, drain line, or drip pan. Although not common, moisture in ducts can lead to mold and mildew that cause persistent odors.
