If you have an emergency plumbing failure, we are here to help no matter the day or time. While we try our best to keep costs affordable for our customers, we understand that major plumbing repairs can get expensive. However, we want to address any plumbing issues sooner rather than later so they don’t cause significant damage to your home.
A slow drain or a leaky faucet doesn’t warrant an emergency service call but any signs of major leaks or sewer backups need to be taken care of as soon as possible.
While we make a point to provide prompt emergency service, you should still know where the shutoffs to your home’s water are located in the event of a major leak.
Every home has a water main with a shutoff valve that stops the flow of water to the house. Each fixture should have a shutoff as well.
If you find yourself with an overflowing toilet, you can shut the water off yourself quickly by twisting the valve below the tank. This valve is located on the water line connected to the toilet. Turning the water off won’t fix the problem, but it will stop the flow of water so it doesn’t do any further damage to your home.
Low-quality plumbing fixtures (faucets, fittings, etc.) might only last around 10 years, while higher-quality products can last up to 80 years in your home. If you’ve never had a plumbing inspection done before or you are thinking about upgrading areas of your home, it would be a good idea to give us a call and talk about your options.
Most homeowners only call us when something goes wrong. With a plumbing inspection, we can try to catch those problems before they arise and address any concerns you might have. The next time we are at your home taking care of a leaky toilet or a slow shower drain, have us take a look at the state of your plumbing system and we can give you an idea if it needs work or not.
Traditional water heaters with a water tank have a lifespan of 8-15 years, depending on how well they were maintained and the kind of water in your home. Many homes in the Hudson Township are supplied by wells, which means hard water.
Hard water can cause an excess of sediment buildup that settles at the bottom of the tank and causes rust to form. This, in turn, causes the bottom of the tank to deteriorate and crack.
A lot of this damage can be mitigated by flushing your water tank once or twice per year. But there’s a catch…
Flushing your water heater can extend its lifespan but if you haven’t done it in a while (over a year), it might start leaking after the flush. And then you’ll be calling us for sure! Save yourself a call and wait until the next time we are out and we can discuss if it would be a good idea to flush the tank or not. If it is an older water heater that’s never been flushed before, we might just advise you to leave it be. But we won’t know until we take a look at it.
Whether you have well or city water, the experts at Hurlburt can make sure your home’s water stays clean and safe for use.
Your family’s safety is our priority but your plumbing can benefit from water treatment options too! Water softeners and iron filters can help to remove minerals that can damage water heaters and plumbing fixtures.
We also offer carbon filters, UV light filters and reverse osmosis to maintain clean drinking water throughout your entire home. Whatever your concerns may be, we can find an option that fits your needs and your budget.
