Most homes, both north and south of Railroad Avenue, have gas heating due to Colfax’s widespread natural gas access. Our team is skilled with the latest technologies, including gas furnaces, boilers for radiant heating, condensing furnaces, variable-speed air handlers, and more. Our technicians also work with hybrid systems that pair an electric heat pump with a furnace for more efficient heating.
Our Heating Technicians Do It All:
- Heating Repair: Heating troubles can range from inconvenient to downright dangerous. From freezing during a frigid January in Colfax to dangerous gases releasing into your home, call our team to make your home warm and safe again.
- Heating Installation: Professional sizing is crucial when upgrading your heating system. A heater that’s too small or too large will cycle irregularly and experience excessive wear and tear. A well-sized system will be energy-efficient and reliable for many years to come.
- Heating Maintenance: HVAC warranties usually require annual heating tune-ups, and they help you avoid many common repair issues. Clean heating equipment burns fuel more efficiently and costs less to operate. You can save even more as a member of the Hurlburt Family Rewards Program.
While local homeowners once considered cooling a luxury, that isn’t the case any longer. Central AC is a convenient and practical choice for homes with ducts. For those that don’t, ductless AC is a much more effective and efficient alternative to clunky, energy-hogging window units.
We’ll Keep You Comfortable All Summer:
- Cooling Repair: Even minor issues can throw that efficiency out of whack and cause your costs to rise. Our technicians repair all makes and models.
- Cooling Installation: We can customize a wide range of cooling systems for your Colfax home. Zone control is a modern feature that can lower your energy costs. A mini-split is an alternative that doesn’t require ducts.
- Cooling Maintenance: Spring tune-ups result in reliable cooling, lower costs, and better indoor air quality. Our Hurlburt Family Rewards Program includes maintenance, discounts, priority service, and more.
Our plumbers encourage homeowners to schedule an annual plumbing inspection. It’s an opportunity to identify and correct issues early before they get serious. You can also explore the latest plumbing advancements and how they may improve your home.
Electrical inspections can find electrical hazards, code compliance issues, and inefficiencies. If you want to increase your home’s capacity for more appliances and electronics, fix electrical panels, or install new systems altogether, we’re the friendly team to call.
Let Us Maximize Your Home’s Safety and Energy Efficiency:
- Electrical Repair: Electrical problems pose serious risks, including fires, damaged appliances, and shocks. Don’t ignore warm outlets, flickering lights, or frequently tripped circuit breakers.
- Electrical Installation: If you have an older home, you might want to upgrade your outdated electrical panels. A modern panel makes a home safer and more efficient. We can upgrade capacity, add outlets, install lighting, and implement smart home solutions to bring your household into the future.

Customer informed that estimates for carbon filtration system installation have been provided as recommended solution to eliminate odor, and they are reviewing options before proceeding with treatment upgrade.
Diagnosed tankless water heater with no hot water issue. Performed maintenance including clearing condensate line, cleaning exhaust/intake, and cleaning igniters. System continued to display Error 11 (no ignition); recommended replacement of igniter assembly.
Replaced customer-supplied faucets in two locations: installed a modern chrome single-lever faucet in the bathroom where cold water flow was compromised, and replaced an aging kitchen faucet with a new high-arch pull-down sprayer model. Both installations were completed successfully with proper function verified.
Diagnosed boiler system displaying "LOP" error code due to loss of pressure (0 psi). Located pinhole leak in pump housing causing significant water damage. Replaced defective circulator pump, bled air from system, and restored proper pressure. Remained on site until heat distribution was confirmed with warm returns. System now operating normally.
Performed diagnostic assessment on Richmond tankless water heater that was not maintaining adequate flow capacity for multiple fixtures. Observed unit was only able to service one faucet at a time, suggesting scale buildup in heat exchanger. Discussed descaling options with customer, who declined professional service and opted to purchase their own descaling kit. Visual inspection showed proper installation with all connections intact and no visible leaks.

Replaced broken high-fire pressure switch hose discovered during service inspection. System now functioning properly with normal heat operation restored.
Responded to service call for a Samsung mini-split heat pump (approximately 1.5 years old) exhibiting intermittent C4 error codes and no heat operation. Upon testing, unit immediately entered defrost mode when temperature was increased. Consulted with technical support and performed diagnostic testing on temperature sensors, finding multiple sensors operating outside of specification parameters. Identified potential control board failure. Will return with replacement temperature sensors, wiring harness, and control board. If issues persist after component replacement, refrigerant charge will be evaluated.

Upon arrival, system was operational; performed comprehensive inspection including ignitor, heat exchanger, gas pressures, and condensate drain. Multiple test cycles confirmed proper ignition sequence and modulation. Customer had recently refilled LP tank, which likely introduced air/moisture into gas line temporarily causing ignition issues. All components functioning normally at departure.
Completed replacement of 50-year-old leaking tub/shower valve with new Moen Chateau Chrome L2353 system, including valve, spout, and shower head.
