Gov. Evers, PSC Recognize Energy Efficiency Day

FOCUS ON ENERGY® Supports Wisconsinites’ Energy Efficiency Efforts

MADISON, WI – Today, Governor Tony Evers, the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC), and Focus on Energy join hundreds of energy efficiency advocacy groups and organizations from around the United States to recognize Energy Efficiency Day on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. In partnership with the PSC, Governor Evers proclaimed the day as Energy Efficiency Day throughout Wisconsin.

“Energy efficiency efforts play an important role in building a healthier, more sustainable future here in Wisconsin,” said Gov. Evers. “On top of all the environmental benefits, energy efficiency saves Wisconsinites’ money, creates jobs, and upgrades local infrastructure. That’s a win-win-win, so I was proud to again proclaim Energy Efficiency Day to recognize the steps folks and businesses have already taken to be more energy efficient and to encourage others to learn more.”

“Reducing our energy use through energy efficiency saves money for each of us individually, but it also adds up to reduced utility costs for everyone,” said PSC Chairperson Rebecca Cameron Valcq. “To reach the goals shared by utilities and the state to have all electricity consumed in Wisconsin to be carbon-free by 2050, energy efficiency programs like Focus on Energy must play a pivotal role.”

For more than 20 years, Focus on Energy has helped Wisconsinites eliminate energy waste through the installation of cost-effective energy efficient and renewable energy projects. By doing this, Wisconsin homeowners and businesses have played a part in creating jobs, upgrading local infrastructure, and improving the environment. Since 2001, Focus on Energy has helped more than 2.8 million residents and businesses save more than $370 million in energy costs.

“New technology and products in the energy sector are making it easier for businesses and homeowners to be more energy efficient,” Focus on Energy Managing Director Lisa Stefanik said. “For Energy Awareness Month, Focus on Energy is highlighting businesses and Trade Allies who are continuously looking for ways to reduce energy waste, become more energy efficient, and ensure a sustainable energy future.”
