FAQs
If you need your furnace repaired or replaced, you likely have some questions. Here are answers to several of the most common questions about furnace repair and furnace replacement in Woodbury.
What size furnace does my home need?
The size you need depends on the optimal heating output based on cubic footage, floor plan, building envelope, and other factors. We advise against general estimates, such as so many BTUs per square foot. Instead, we’ll perform a personalized load calculation for your home. That will ensure an ideal size and minimize your short- and long-term heating costs.
What’s the difference between a standard and high-efficiency furnace?
High-efficiency furnaces use around 10% less fuel than their standard counterparts at a minimum. Traditional furnace technologies lose heat energy as a byproduct of venting toxic gases. Condensing models have a second heat exchanger to reclaim much of the heat that they would otherwise lose. Some models also have a modulating gas valve so they can use less fuel as needed.
Why does my furnace pilot light keep going out?
Furnace pilot lights may go out from time to time for myriad reasons, but it shouldn’t happen frequently. If it does, it often indicates a thermocouple or pilot tube needs professional cleaning or perhaps replacing. It may also suggest a problem with the fuel supply or a bad fuel regulator.
